Mission
Saving Lives Through Prevention

As authorized by state law and under the direction of the Fire Marshal, the Hardin County ESD #2 Fire Marshal’s Office (FMO) is responsible for fire prevention, education, code enforcement, inspections, plan review, and investigation within HCESD#2. We also assist local municipalities when requested.

What We Do

  • New construction and tenant improvement plan review
  • System permits & inspections (fire alarm, sprinkler, kitchen hood, standpipe, underground)
  • Fire investigations
  • Public education & risk reduction programs
  • Operational permits and special events

Codes & Standards

HCESD#2 enforces the 2021 International Fire Code (IFC) and, where referenced by the IFC, the 2021 International Building Code (IBC). Additional standards (e.g., NFPA) apply as referenced by the IFC and adopted by the jurisdiction.
