What Happens Next

  • If your request is large/complex, we may send a cost estimate or a request to narrow/clarify.
  • If we send a cost estimate over $40, you must reply within 10 business days or the request may be considered withdrawn.

Business days exclude weekends and official holidays. The clock starts the business day after we receive your request.

Fees & Formats

  • Inspection of records is generally free.
  • Copies may incur charges per state rules (e.g., $0.10/page; $15/hour labor when applicable; 20% overhead; plus media/postage).
  • Electronic delivery is provided when available. Paper copies can be picked up or mailed.

We follow the Texas Attorney General’s cost rules; fee waivers may be considered in the public interest.

  • Some information may be withheld under legal exceptions (e.g., privacy, ongoing investigations). When required, we request an Attorney General ruling.
  • Please do not submit PHI/SSNs unless necessary to identify records (e.g., your own medical record release).
